QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai has urged welfare organizations and wealthy people to come forward and help the daily wagers and the poor, deprived as they are of their livelihood due to the closure of trade and business activities because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“It is important that rich people and welfare organizations come forward to help the needy in this critical situation,” the governor said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

“The provincial government is using all available resources to mitigate difficulties and problems of traders and daily wagers because businessmen and workers are facing a lot of problems due to the closure of trade centres and shops in Balochistan,” he added.

He also urged the Balochistan government to provide ration to the daily wagers and working class people in view of their difficulties.

The governor called for collective efforts to immediately cope with the spread of coronavirus in order to ensure protection of lives.

“We have to defeat it by adopting preventive steps. The coronavirus is becoming a sensitive issue and its risk is enhanced. People should fully implement the precautionary measures and cooperate with the provincial government in combating the challenge,” he said.

He also laid stress on creating awareness about the pandemic among the public. “The people should be informed about the disease but should not be frightened.”

Achakzai expressed confidence that scientists and experts around the world would soon be able to find an effective cure for the coronavirus.

He said for durable solution of the problem, attitudes and thoughts are needed to be changed.

The governor put emphasis on self-quarantine and urged the public to stay at home and cooperate with authorities in the grim situation. “We could save our lives by adopting precautionary measures prescribed by the government and health professionals.”
