KARACHI: Sindh IGP Mushtaq Mahar inaugurated the 'Zainab Alert' mobile application at the Central Police Office (CPO) on Tuesday.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the IGP highlighted the need as well as the benefits of the application and maintained that it would help ensure that fewer incidents like the murder of Zainab- a minor girl who was raped and killed in Kasur- took place in the future.

He further said, "Soon vehicle checking and identification of criminals through information and communication technology will become easier with the addition of similar applications in the Zainab Alert System."

Citizens-Police Liaison Committee Chief Zubair Habib, who also spoke on the occasion, said that the application was developed for keeping records of missing and recovered children.

He stated that the application matched the standards of international systems made for similar purposes, adding that applications for iOS and websites for immediate reporting of missing and recovered children were also being developed.
