QUETTA: Balochistan National Party (BNP) senior leader Lashkari Raisani has said educated people of the society need to get united in order to defend their homeland.

"We can protect our honour only through knowledge and education," Raisani said while addressing a function organised by the Baloch Students Educational Organization at the Karachi University.

BNP leader Humayun Aziz Kurd, Balochistan Assembly member Akbar Mengal and Nawabzada Mir Sakhi were also present on the occasion.

He said: "Our society is undergoing a crisis as there is a great series of defeats and disruptions of the people who represent their society in legislatures today".

According to Raisani, the number of genuine public representatives in legislatures is extremely low.

"We live in a land where the rulers are imposed from the outside. However, the struggle of the Baloch Students Educational Organization has encouraged the political workers who love their country.”

He said the society in its evolutionary role is trying to attract knowledge and in the face of evolutionary defeat, the ‘conscious’ young people in defence of their land have to protect their history and resources. “I honour sacrifices of the political workers, who have laid down their lives," Raisani said.
