QUETTA: The central leader of Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) and former senator Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani on Tuesday filed election petition in Supreme Court seeking re-elections in NA-265 (Quetta II) constituency.

Talking to media outside the Supreme Court, Raisani said, “The election tribunal of Balochistan High Court had nullified the elections results of 2018 and had ordered repolling in NA-265 but the honorable Supreme Court granted relief to the deputy speaker and suspended tribunal’s decision.”

He expressed optimism that the Supreme Court would provide relief to people of the constituency by maintaining the decision of Election Tribunal of Balochistan High Court.

In 2018 general elections, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Qasim Suri defeated Raisani and others on the seat and held the position of National Assembly Deputy Speaker.
