Cabinet approves Nazra education in schools

Committee formed to finalise amendments to Local Govt Act

QUETTA: Balochistan cabinet has approved on Friday a bill of making Nazra education of Quran compulsory in all government and private schools.

Chaired by provincial Chief Minister Jam Kamal, the cabinet meeting was held in Quetta in which the provincial ministers agreed to implement the plan in all schools across the province.

The Balochistan cabinet members have also agreed to finalise amendments to provincial Local Government Act before the next Balochistan LG elections. It was also agreed to constitute a committee to review division of LG departments into union council, municipal committee, municipal corporation and metropolitan corporation.

The cabinet members agreed to develop consensus with opposition parties on division of LG departments in order to secure their support for the proposed bill. Also, the ministers vowed to strengthen financial and administrative affairs of LG department in order to optimize the performance of Local Government officers and staff members.

Meanwhile, the cabinet approved construction of a shipyard in Pasni by federal ministry of Industries and Production, saying the provincial government would be a partner of 20 to 30 per cent share in the project. It was suggested that the project would create job opportunities for the youth of Balochistan.

The cabinet has approved Balochistan Cadet Colleges Act 2019 and has also given a go-ahead for joint training programme with Hasho Skill Foundation for the youth in the fields of tourism. Under the agreement, the foundation will provide jobs to 500 young people after the initial training.

Kamal has approved technical education centres for women in all districts of Balochistan in order to strengthen women by providing them skills. He has directed the ministry concerned to complete working plan for the initiative and submit it in Chief Minister Secretariat.

Lauding the support of cabinet members in implementation of vital decisions, the CM said, coalition parties in the Balochistan government also have an agenda for provincial development.

“The government has allocated funds for development of hospitals, schools, sports complexes, tourism, water and agriculture in the fiscal year,” he added.

The cabinet approved funds for Zhob-Mir Ali Khail highway and directed the ministry concerned to complete construction on the infrastructure in order to address woes of travellers.

The Cabinet members also approved proposal of 1000 tractors for provincial farmers under Green Tractors Scheme and announced to release funds for Wheat Emergency National Program.
