The participants of the meeting also reached a consensus regarding the dissolution of various committees. They agreed upon the dissolution of committees of the board of KWSB, related to the affairs of infrastructure, finance and revenue, and approved the formation of new committees for enhancing the performance of the water board.

The meeting was attended by KWSB Managing Director Asadullah Khan, Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar, Local Government Secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh, Planning and Development Secretary Naheed Shah Durrani, among others.

Following the meeting, the local government minister said while talking to media that the decision was taken keeping in view the growing demand for clean water in the remote areas of Karachi.

Responsibility for supplying water to these areas has been given to KWSB to "redress complaints regarding water and sewerage, received from these areas," said Shah, adding that the step is also directed towards upgrading the sewerage system in the metropolis' remote areas. Elaborating further, he said that the governing board of KWSB has decided to install new sewerage pipelines in Karachi's rural areas.

Shah said that the remote areas of the city would be brought under the jurisdiction of the district council to improve water supply and sewerage systems in these regions, adding that all water and sewerage projects for these areas would be managed by KWSB.

The local government minister said that KWSB will depute a superintendent engineer, a civil executive engineer and an E&M executive engineer in the next two days to look into the areas' issues.
