“Interference in political parties’ affairs has weakened democracy in Pakistan and caused political anxiety,” Dr Baloch, who belongs to the National Party (NP), said while addressing a press conference together with the NP General Secretary Jan Muhammad Buledi
He also accused the federal government of arresting opposition party leaders in the name of accountability. “In order to divert public attention from its flawed policies and inflation, the federal government has been arresting only its political opponents in the name of accountability,” he said.
The PTI government came to power with the slogan of accountability. However, the opposition parties have often accused the government of victimizing its opponents through state institutions particularly the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The PML-N – the former ruling party and an ally of the NP – lately called the ongoing accountability process the result of NAB-Niazi nexus. Niazi is the e surname of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Sharing views on the 100th anniversary of Baloch nationalist political movement, Dr Baloch said the ideology of Balochistan nationalism has gone through many phases of transition.
