QUETTA: A three-day meeting of the Pakistan-Iran Higher Border Commission (HBC) started in Quetta on Wednesday where Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Minister Meer Ziaullah Langove is heading the Pakistan delegation.
The new round of Pakistan-Iran talks are focusing on border management with the aim of eliminating terrorism, arms smuggling, narcotics and human trafficking.
Emphasising the promotion of Pak-Iran relations in his address to the session, Meer Zia Langove termed the Pak-Iran HBC meeting vital to prevent border violations and human smuggling.
“Pakistan and Iran have had long-standing brotherly relations for many decades and the Pakistani government is willing to strengthen trade relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran”, Zia Langove said while addressing the 23rd inauguration ceremony of the Pak-Iran HBC meeting.
“The meeting was essential in order to curb smuggling on the Pak-Iran border and prevent border violations including human smuggling”, Langove said, adding cross-border terrorism threatened peace in both countries.
