QUETTA: The Chairman of movement to restore Bolan Medical College (BMC) demanded amendments in BMC act to protect rights of its staff and students.

“We have commenced a movement for BMC and have established a protest camp in premises of the university,” said chairman of the movement Abdullah Safi and vice chairman Dr Ejaz addressing a press conference.

Safi claimed the current vice chancellor of BMC was not competent hence an experienced educational expert should be appointed for the post.

In 2018, then Balochistan governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai appointed Dr Naqeebullah Achakzai as BMC VC. The decision was challenged in Balochistan High Court because the post required a Phd while Naqbullah held Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons(FCPS), equivalent to a Masters degree.

Stressing on woes of staff and students of BMC, Safi said, “The Balochistan Assembly passed BMC act in 2017 but it has yet to be implemented.”
