Fraud Charges: Bailable arrest warrants for banker

The LHC on Monday issued bailable arrest warrants for Tasneem Rizvi, the First Woman Bank area manager.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday issued bailable arrest warrants for Tasneem Rizvi, the First Woman Bank area manager, Faisalabad D-Ground Branch, subject to furnishing surety bonds of Rs50,000 for not appearing in court to answer fraud allegations against her and two other bank officers. The petitioner, a store owner, Ammara Waqas, said that Rizvi, Branch Manager Farida Yasmeen, and Credit Manager Ammara Ismaeel, were regular visitors to her store.  She said that the three officers had convinced her to obtain a Rs1m loan from the bank for her business. She said she also gave them Rs100,000 as processing fee through a cheque. The loan amount was transferred to her newly-opened bank account. Later, she said, the respondents demanded a bribe and threatened to cancel the loan if she refused.She alleged that when she refused to give them any money, the respondents seized her account. She said that she filed a complaint with the Madina Town police station but to no avail.  The court directed the respondents to file replies by July 28. The court also summoned Madina Town SHO.
