KARACHI: CNG station owners have threatened to open CNG filling stations across Sindh without permission on Tuesday (today) if they are not allowed to operate as per the amended schedule.

The warning was given by Sami Khan, the head of the All-Pakistan CNG Dealers Association, during a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Monday.

"CNG stations have been closed for a week now," pointed out Khan, adding that on December 19, gas authorities had assured the dealers that they would be allowed to operate three days a week. However, he said, the commitment was violated by the Sui Southern Gas Company, which has suspended the gas supply to the stations for an extended period of time.

He claimed that gas was only supplied to CNG stations for 27 hours out of the last 192 hours. The supply on Saturday, which was restored for 12 hours before being shut off again, had extremely low pressure, due to which gas stations were forced to close again, he added.
