Each district to have its own sports complex

Minister says several development schemes under way in Balochistan

QUETTA: Provincial Minister for Communication and Works Mir Arif Jan Mohammad Hassani has said that sports complexes are being built in every district to provide sports facilities to the youth across Balochistan.

Talking to media men during a visit to Sibi, Hassani said Balochistan headed towards an era of development under the leadership of Chief Minister Jam Kamal. He added that tenders for development schemes were being issued by various departments and work would start soon.

“According to a four-year plan, sports complexes would be built in every district of Balochistan, including Sibi,” he said. “Each sports complex will cost Rs700-800 million, where cricket, hockey, football, badminton and other sports facilities will be provided.” he added.

Among other construction projects in the Sibi district, the minister particularly mentioned the construction of the Zonal Headquarters Hostel of the Balochistan Constabulary. He said the tribal hall would also be maintained.

The minister said that work was under way to rebuild two high schools, four middle schools, shelter schools in every district of Balochistan, adding that in several districts the work had already completed. “Construction of roads, including the Luni road, has also been initiated,” he said.

“The Sardar Chakar Khan Rind University has been made functional on a temporary basis on the directives of the governor,” he said, adding that 40-acre piece of land has been arranged for the university and the work will start after receiving funds from the federal government.

During the visit, the minister reviewed the construction projects. He received briefings on the ongoing projects from Executive Engineer Bashir Khan Nasir and Deputy Commissioner Zahid Shah. He directed the relevant departments to complete the development projects in time.

“Timely completion of ongoing development projects is vital. I will not tolerate any poor construction or equipment used in these projects,” he warned. “If there are any complaints, we will take the appropriate action against the contractor, including cancellation of its license.”

Hassani said that his visit to Sibi, Dhadar and Dera Murad Jamali aimed at reviewing the ongoing development projects in order to raise the living standard of the people so that the public can benefit from the progress of development projects.

Mir Arif Jan Hassani emphasised that it was the responsibility of the government to ensure that the people have better facilities. “We are fulfilling our responsibility in this regard,” the minister told the reporters.

Secretary C&W Mohammad Hashim, Chief Engineer Ilyas Lashari, Assistant Commissioner Munir Soomro, C&D officers, including Mir Ali Muhammad Mengal, Mir Ismail Mengal, Ghulam Muhammad Zehri and others were also present at the occasion.
