QUETTA: The annual Jhal Magsi desert rally concluded with Nauman Saranjam clinching the first position as the racer completed the muddy racing tracks in the shortest time, while defending champion Nadir Magsi could not maintain his supremacy as his vehicle jammed due to technical faults.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani was the chief guest of the occasion. He lauded Magsi’s efforts for introducing the desert rally in the remote district of Jhal Magsi.

“Jhal Magsi has been hosting the jeep rally for the last 14 years, thus, the event has become as national competition,” Alyani said.

As many as 74 racers participated in event, while 29 vehicles made to the final stage and accelerated the 225km racing track.

Nauman Saranjam was declared victorious; Malik Riaz bagged second position, while Zain Mehmood finished the track at third.

Defending champion Nadiri Magsi’s vehicle jammed after hitting the start line due to technical faults.

A large number of fully-charged enthusiasts had turned to attend the final competition.

Chief Minister Alyani said that the Balochistan government had been utilising all resources to promote sports in the province.
