Wagah-Lahore train resumes operation

The fare has been fixed at Rs30, says railways minister

LAHORE: The shuttle train service from Wagah border to Lahore has been inaugurated after 22 years.

The train service, which was last closed in 1997, will run three times a day. Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Railways Sheikh Rasheed said the train service would benefit the people, therefore, the fare has been fixed at Rs30.

The first train will depart from Lahore railway station at 5:00 am and reach Mughalpura station at 5:12 am, at 5:24 am it will reach Harbanspura station, while at 5:35 am the train will be at Jhallo Park, then it will be heading towards Wagah at 5:46 am and will reach Wagah Station at 6:00 am.

From Wagah station, the train will depart at 6:45 am, crossing Jhallo at 6:55 am, Jhallo Park at 7:06 am, Harbanspura at 7:17 am, Mughalpura at 7:28 am and will reach Lahore Railway station at 7:45 am.

Whereas in the second run, the train will be departing from Lahore at 11:00 am, arriving on Mughalpura at 11:12 am, 11:35 am at Jallo park, 11:46 am at Jhallo and reach Wagah Station at 12’o clock in the noon.
