LONDON: Thousands of British Kashmiris took to the streets here on Sunday to condemn the 72 years of Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

The protesters chanted slogans like "Indian troops quit Kashmir" and "we want freedom".

Speaking on the occasion, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly Opposition Leader Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen urged the world leaders play their role in settling the Kashmir dispute as per the wishes of people of Kashmir.

AJK Information Minister Mushtaq Minhas called upon the United Kingdom leadership to come forward and settle the longstanding dispute, saying Kashmiris are the victims of a worst kind of state terrorism by New Delhi.

Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman Abdur Rashid Turabi said that people of IOK are being targeted for demanding the plebiscite granted by United Nations. “Kashmiris are writing the history of bravery for the last seven decades and international community must play their role to avert the looming war threats in the South Asia,” he said.

Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) chairman and senior Hurriyat leader Altaf Ahmad Bhat said October 27 was the worst day in the history of Kashmir. “Every day in IOK is the day of suppression and oppression where nobody knows what is going to happen with them. World must listen to the oppressed Kashmiris and allow them to decide about their future.”

Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) United Kingdom President Raja Fahim Kayani said that India has lost the game at international level as for as Kashmir dispute is concerned as no one is ready to listen to New Delhi’s lies anymore. He said that the rising human rights violations in IOK are unacceptable to the world community.

Pir Sultan Fayazul Hassan thanked the British Kashmiris for attending the massive anti-India protest. He said British Kashmiris will also continue to support the Kashmir cause vehemently in the future.
