Housing Scheme: ‘Plots first, park later’

LAHORE: Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed has directed the Lahore Press Club (LPC) president to ensure that all members get plots in housing society for journalists, and forget for now what kind of development work is being done. Every member has a right to a plot in the society, said Justice Saeed on Tuesday, as he heard a petition against the conversion of land designated for a park into more residential plots in the housing society. The judge directed Lahore Press Club president Sarmad Bashir and Assistant Advocate General Shan Gul to ensure that land is acquired for additional plots for club members. Conservation or the shifting of the park were secondary issues, he said. “Concentrate on providing plots to the club members first,” he told Bashir. Justice Saeed adjourned the hearing till September 21.
