MULTAN: The agriculture task forces seized fake pesticides and fertilisers worth Rs200 million in the current year said Punjab Secretary Agriculture Wasif Khursheed.

“There will be zero tolerance against the sale of fake pesticides or fertilisers and nobody will be allowed to play havoc with the agriculture sector besides damaging the farming community through substandard pesticides or fertilisers.”

He expressed these views during a meeting held to discuss the sale of pesticides and fertilisers on Sunday. The secretary added that different measures were taken to curb the sale of fake fertilisers across the province. “Welfare of farmers and revival of the agriculture sector were top priorities of the department.

During the ongoing year, pesticides could not deliver required results especially against the elimination of whiteflies and some other pests in cotton crops.”
