MULTAN: The first-ever patient in the province to undergo an ablation procedure, at the Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology in Multan, is successfully recovering. By operating, doctors treated the affected heart valve as well as an irregular heartbeat.

With this advancement in medicine and technology, cardiac patients will now be able to opt for this surgery within the country instead of having to travel abroad.

On Friday, doctors operated on 42-year-old Qasoor Hussain, who has battled with cardiac diseases for the past several years. Hussain’s valve and two arteries were blocked which doctors remedied during the procedure.

Later, the patient was shifted to the intensive care unit where he is recovering speedily. Dr Yasir Khakwani stated that no such surgery has been performed in the country. He termed the eight-hour-long operation a triumph for healthcare in South Punjab.
