Half of the cases in courts are false: CJ

CJ says that the people’s confidence on courts had restored after the reinstatement of independent judiciary.

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry said that institution of false cases was the main hurdle in dispensation of speedy justice. He said that around half of the cases filed in courts were false and disturbed the working of the courts.

The CJ said that the courts were not responsible for a delay in quick disposal of the cases. The CJ was addressing at a ceremony at the Punjab Judicial Academy where he distributed certificates among 50 civil judges on completion of their training. The CJ said that some religious scholars were engaged in sectarianism instead of providing guidance to the people. Judges were accountable to the people, he said. The CJ urged the judges to serve the people and give priority to resolving their problems. He said that the people’s confidence on courts had restored after the reinstatement of independent judiciary. “Now it is the responsibility of judges to live up to their expectations,” he said. He said he was hopeful that the young judges will keep the sanctity of the judiciary intact.
