ISLAMABAD: Australia’s new High Commissioner to Pakistan Geoffrey Shaw on Thursday said that with as many as 13,000 Pakistani students studying there, Australia offers a range of exciting options for Pakistani students.

In a statement on Thursday, Shaw said that they have more than 1,200 institutions and 22,000 courses available and students can easily learn about them just by attending Australian Education Exhibitions in their cities.

Furthermore, he said that Australian universities have signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to offer scholarships for doctorate degrees and other cooperation in research.

Moreover, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission is working to link the Australian technical and vocational education and training (TVET) provider with opportunities in the Pakistan market.

“Australia is a leading international education provider, and the innovations of our graduates are a testament to the quality of our education,” the high commissioner said, adding that the island nation has produced some 15 Nobel laureates.

Australia, Shaw said, has five of the 30 best cities in the world for students based on students mix, affordability, quality of life, and employer activity.

In 2018, he said that more than 13,000 Pakistanis were studying at Australian institutions, up by seven per cent from the previous year.
