Assault victim says cops giving VIP protocol to suspect
Police appear to side with suspect despite accusations he assaulted 45 girls
RAWALPINDI:
The victim of rape video case has expressed no-confidence over the police investigation and expressed indignation over police providing VIP protocol to the suspect accused of sexually assaulting her and filming the crime to blackmail her.
Though, Rawalpindi Police have arrested the couple which allegedly raped 45 girls and recorded their videos, some of its officials seemed to side with the suspects.
The young victim went into complete shock as she witnessed protocol the police was giving to the detained suspect.
Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Aqeel Rathor presented the suspect in court yesterday and acquired physical remand for two more days. The next hearing would be conducted on August 19.
The victim, a university student, recorded her statement under section 164 before a duty judge yesterday. According to her statement, the suspects, Qasim and Kiran Jehangir, lied to her about their marital status and presented themselves as cousins.
On the day, the couple coaxed her to sit in their tinted car and kidnapped her. As soon as the victim sat in, they placed a dagger on her neck and took her to their house in Gulistan Colony where Qasim raped her.

Meanwhile, Kiran kept recording a video of the entire activity of Qasim raping the victim and then handed over the camera to Qasim who continued recording it. As soon as their business was finished, the suspects allowed her to leave.
They warned her to attend their call every time it was made or else she would be killed and her videos would be made viral.
However, the victim instead of suffering in silence, boldly faced her tormentors and filed a report at City Police Station. Police arrested the suspects who confessed to their crime.
However, the victim was shocked to see Qasim getting VIP protocol at City Police Station.
After this, the victim wrote to City Police Officer (CPO) Faisal Rana, revealing special treatment of suspect in the station and expressed no confidence in the investigation.
After this, the CPO handed over the matter to SSP Investigation and ordered him to probe into the case.
The victim also complained that electronic gadgets including laptops and mobile phones recovered from Qasim, which held complete data of the nefarious videos, were not seized by the police even after two days of the couple’s arrest.

Meanwhile, the other suspect Kiran has filed a bail plea which has been approved for hearing by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Farooq. The judge issued a notice to City Police Station SHO and summoned the case record in the proceeding on August 20.
It is pertinent to note that related police are also facing extreme difficulties in investigating a technical case in a non-technical way.
The police have also completely failed to reach out to any other victims in the case while it has also been decided that the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA’s) help would be sought.

Rawalpindi CPO ordered separate registration of cases against the accused couple regarding the exploitation and making of pornographic videos of underage girls.
“If the family members of any affected girl are reluctant to become plaintiffs, due to some social pressure, the Rawalpindi police are then ready to become plaintiffs in the said cases,” CPO said.
The victim and plaintiff of the assault and harassment case met the CPO who assured her that the suspects would be brought to justice at any cost and would be punished severely according to the law.
The arrest of the accused couple who was allegedly involved in making objectionable videos of girls is being regarded as a great success and one of the greatest achievements ever on part of the Rawalpindi Police.
