ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday lodged a strong protest with India over the unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control (LoC) on August 15 and 16.
The Foreign Office summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia and condemned the unprovoked firing in the Lipa and Battal sectors in which one security personnel and two civilians were martyred.
FO spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal urged the Indian side to instruct its forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the Line of Control and the Working Boundary. He said the Indian side should permit UN Military Observer Group to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

According to a statement issued by FO, the Indian occupying forces have continuously violated the 2003 ceasefire arrangement – targeting innocent civilians.
“The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation,” the spokesperson added.
The Indian Army used cluster munitions along the LoC to target the civilian population in blatant violation of the Geneva Convention and international laws earlier this month.
As a result of bombardment by cluster munitions, at least two civilians – including a four-year-old boy – were martyred and 11 were injured. The attack took place on the night of July 30/31.
