High influx of patients with gastric problems

The influx of patients to public sector hospitals increased owing to private clinics closing during Eid holidays

RAWALPINDI: The three allied hospitals in Rawalpindi have reported receiving a large number of patients with complaints of gastrointestinal pain during the extended Eidul Azha and Independence Day holidays.

Emergency departments at the Benazir Bhutto General Hospital (BBH), the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) and the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) said that they have treated a large number of patients with digestive problems due to overeating.

Moreover, officials said that the influx of patients to public sector hospitals had increased owing to the due closure of private clinics during the Eid holidays.

Almost every other patient brought to these hospitals was complaining of gastric upset, stomach problem, indigestion or dehydration.

Patients were released after initial treatment and were advised by doctors to increase their intake of clean water and to opt for light food and avoid overeating.
