PM Imran, Saudi crown prince discuss IoK situation

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has spoken to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman regarding India’s illegal action in occupied Kashmir.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the two leaders spoke over the phone on Tuesday. "During the call, they discussed the development of the situation in the region and efforts exerted towards it," the agency reported.

"HRH the Crown Prince was also briefed by the Pakistani Prime Minister on the latest developments in Kashmir."

On Monday, New Delhi revoked the special status of occupied Kashmir by abolishing Article 370 of the Indian constitution.

In the wake of India's illegal step, Pakistan has initiated efforts to gain diplomatic support against New Delhi.

Apart from Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other top diplomats, PM Imran has also been an active part of Islamabad's diplomatic outreach efforts.



Hours after India's move, the premier held phone conversations with Malaysian PM Tun Mahathir bin Mohamad and Turkey’s President Recep Tayyib Erdogan.

He reiterated that Pakistan would continue its diplomatic, moral and political support to the just cause of Kashmiri struggle for their right to self-determination, as enshrined in the United Nations Security Council resolutions (UNSC).

Both Turkey and Malaysia assured PM Imran of their support in the matter.

“India’s illegal action of modifying the special status of Indian occupied Kashmir will have serious implications for regional peace and security,” said PM Khan.

Erdogan called on Pakistan and India to strengthen the dialogue process and shared his concerns over the situation and assured Khan of Turkey’s "steadfast support in this regard".
