ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Hindu Council has gifted a unique 40-feet-high and 60-feet-wide national flag to the National Assembly (NA). The flag, considered to be largest in the world, has been gifted by Pakistan Hindu Council and has been made using white and green balloons. As many as 60,000 deflated balloons have been used to develop the flag while more than three dozen staff of assembly secretariat took part in its preparation.

Sources said that it was the first time in the history of any country that such a huge flag was prepared in the National Assembly. Sources said that it was the biggest of its kind in the world and all set to register a record in the Guinness Book of World Records. According to sources, it has been installed adjacent to the hall’s main gate, covering the entire area from ceiling to floor.

The flag has been installed in the National Assembly’s hall. It would be unveiled before the joint session of the parliament.

The act signifies the love of the Hindu community for the country and has received appreciation from parliamentarians as well as the public.

Talking outside the Parliament House, lawmaker representing minorities Dr Ramesh Kumar said that Pakistan was a result of peaceful struggle while non-Muslims like Jogarnath Mandal and SP Singh were alongside the father of the nation in the struggle.

He said that Hindus living in Pakistan aligned with Muhammad Ali Jinnah and embraced Pakistan as their homeland. He added that Hindus in Pakistan love their country despite difficulties.

Talking about Indian atrocities in Kashmir, he said Pakistan’s geo-strategic location was important. He said, “Hindu community in Pakistan is ready to defend the country at any point.” He added that Pakistan suffered an extreme loss in the war against terrorism.

He revealed that during his visit to India, the Indian leadership ruled out mediation on Kashmir.

Dr Kumar also talked about the Trade and Faith Tourism and said that the current situation in Kashmir would deteriorate relations between the two neighboring countries. He said that the country required effective and immediate diplomacy on an international level. He added that the United States (US) should make India realise that peace in Afghanistan could not be achieved without Pakistan. “Spark of a war between the two atomic powers would engulf entire world,” he added.

Moreover, Dr Kumar expressed that the month of August demanded that all our differences and prejudices be kept aside for the benefit of the country.

He also invited students from across the country to visit the Parliament House on Independence Day.

Answering a question, he said that the flag was a gift and a testimony of love of the Hindu community for Pakistan. He added that teams of the Guinness Book of World Records would carry out a procedure to check if it set a record or not and hoped that the flag would make it to the book.

He said that every individual needed to play a role to make Pakistan clean and green.
