Title track of 'Heer Maan Ja' is a boat that has long sailed

Can we please ditch the hand pump moves and the fire torches already...

KARACHI: The title track of the upcoming film Heer Maan Ja (HMJ) is out which is yet another collaboration with Sahara UK after Billo Hai from Parchi and Addi Maar from the same.

The song that has been sung by Herbie Sahara and produced by Vee Music does not come off as the upbeat number it aspires to be.

The single introduces main leads Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman Khan and Faizan Sheikh, clad in all black. Their leather jackets glow in the backdrop of neon lights, reminding the listeners of the heydays of the British Punjabi bhangra scene but, clearly not as amusing or hummable.

In a time when directors are going a level up with production design and art direction, the visual treatment of the title track does not add much value to an already fast but forgettable composition. One wonders why acts such as Sahara UK only make it to Pakistani ventures after becoming irrelevant elsewhere.

Unfortunately, Osman Khalid Butt and Faizan Uddin's remarkable choreography also fails to save the already sailed boat of the song. Can we please ditch the hand pump moves and the fire torches already...

Helmed by Azfar Jafri, the rom-com is set to release this Eidul Azha.
