Economic Performance: Accounting tool can be helpful

KARACHI: Accounting is a powerful tool which has been used in optimising economic performance of organisations and the same tool can be used to enhance their social and environmental performance. These views were shared by Pervez Muslim, Chairman Conference Committee of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), while addressing the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the institute. He added that traditionally it had been financial accountability that was the forte of accountants but now, in various countries, they were also making strides in the field of social and environmental accounting. To highlight the significance of this global trend, ICAP will hold a conference on July 26 and 27 titled ‘Accountants and social responsibility’.
