QUETTA: Torrential rains and thunderstorm hit major parts of Balochistan on Thursday while the provincial capital turned into river as sewage water start flowing on the streets.

Downpours with heavy winds and hail-storm drenched several areas ending the recent wave of heat in the province.

The heavy rains caused flash floods in Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Harnai, Sanjavi, Dukki, Ziarat, Mastung and other parts of the province— disconnecting Quetta from them.

The torrential rain with speedy winds and hail-storms hit the provincial capital at 1:15pm which lasted for nearly an hour turning the warm weather chilly.

“We can’t believe that it is May, because after rain weather in Quetta turned chilly forced us to wear warm clothes,” a local said.

Majority of the streets in the provincial capital flowed into sewerage water while vehicles, auto-rickshaws and busses were seen floating on streets.

Joint Road, Zarghoon Road, Kalwin Road, Kawari Road, Jinnah Road, Mecongy Road, Saryab Road, Arbab Karam Khan Road, Brewary Road and other streets in Quetta turned into river. Simmering sewage lines lifted the lid from Metropolitan tall claims of active machinery in the provincial capital.

Torrential rains destroyed many agricultural fields in the province. According to reports apple orchards in Hanna Orrak valley destroyed due to downpours and hail-storms.
