LAHORE: The government, with the support of the private sector, is working towards introducing new tourist locations, said Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mehmood Khan who called on him at Punjab House, Islamabad on Saturday.

He maintained that proposals are being reviewed for the establishment of a tourist point in Bhakkar. He added that joint efforts will be made to control the movement of suspicious and criminal elements at border areas. He said that various road projects are also being reviewed for the construction of a motorway from Punjab to Sindh through Dera Ghazi Khan.

Various road projects will be constructed in Punjab through public-private partnership, he said. The chief ministers also discussed matters of mutual interest, the general political situation and development strategies.

Both agreed on the need for enhancing bilateral cooperation and partnership between the two provinces in various fields. Buzdar stated that the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) can provide services to K-P to ensure the supply of pure food. Public service delivery can also be improved by cooperating with the IT sector. The public service is our joint resolve and we will prove that we have put in the work, he said.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued on Saturday, the Punjab CM said that the Constitution of Pakistan gives equal rights to all minorities.

Baisakhi is a joyous event for the Sikh community and reflects their culture. Facilitating them during Baisakhi is our moral, religious, and constitutional responsibility, he said. “Brotherhood and solidarity are promoted by taking part in each other’s religious festivals,” he maintained.

The chief minister added that the Sikh community will be provided with all the facilities on Baisakhi. ‘Naya Pakistan’ is operating on the principles of tolerance, brotherhood and harmony, he stated.

The government, under Prime Minister Imran Khan, has undertaken measures for opening Kartarpur Corridor. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) believes in religious harmony and freedom, he expressed. The Sikh pilgrims will bring messages of love and brotherhood, he said.
