Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday said Islamabad had initiated diplomatic efforts to counter Indian aggression, hours after the Indian Air Foce (IAF) violated Pakistan’s airspace near the Line of Control (LoC).

"I spoke to the Turkish foreign minister while Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua is presenting Islamabad's stance at the emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah."

Addressing a press conference flanked by Finance Minister Asad Umar and Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Qureshi said: “Once again Indian government has resorted to a self-serving, reckless and fictitious claim.  This action has been done for domestic consumption being in an election environment, putting regional peace and stability at grave risk.”

Earlier, a National Security Committee huddle was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Hayat, Chief of Naval Staff Zafar Mahmood Abbasi and other top civil-military officials.

The foreign minister added the government will host foreign and local media to inspect the impact site to further its stance and to expose Indian propaganda. “The claimed area of the strike is open for the world to see. For this domestic and international media is being taken to the site."

“Pakistan is planning at political, diplomatic and military levels and will respond accordingly,” said Khattak.

FM Qureshi said, “We are a responsible and a peaceful country. We also understand the importance of protecting our borders.”

“Don’t underestimate the capabilities of Pakistani jets. We will act and not react.”
