Man gunned down during robbery bid

Sharafat and Arshad put up resistance and tried to overpower the culprits but they opened fire on them

ot dA man was gunned down during a robbery bid in Kasur, Express News reported on Wednesday.

An official of Phool Nagar police station said that Muhammad Saharafat and Muhammad Arshad, residents of Kanway Jhok area, were riding a motorcycle when two robbers intercepted them.

He added the outlaws deprived the men of their valuables and cash at gun point. He pointed out that while the robbers were fleeing, both victims put up a resistance and tried to overpower the culprits.

The police official mentioned that the suspects opened fire on them and fled the scene. As a result, Sharafat suffered a bullet injury that claimed his life, while Arshad remained unhurt.

The police have registered a case and started investigations.

Meanwhile, the family members and relatives of the victim staged a demonstration against the incident. They put the deceased’s body on Multan Road and blocked traffic.  Resultantly, vehicles were stuck in a massive gridlock.
The protesters shouted slogans against the police and government and demanded the immediate arrest of the murderers. Later, Investigation SP Maaz Zafar reached the spot and held negotiations with them.

He assured the protesters that the culprits involved in the incident will be apprehended soon and strictly punished. The protesters ultimately dispersed.

On February 12, robbers shot a man dead and injured two others during a robbery at Faisalabad’s Jhang Road.

According to details, Haji Zahoor, Munawar and Azhar, employees of a filling station located on Jhang Road, were going to deposit cash in a bank when two bandits intercepted them near Sabzi Mandi.

When the victims resisted, the robbers opened indiscriminate firing. As a result, Haji Zahoor died on the spot, while Munawar and Azhar sustained bullet injuries.
