KARACHI: In reference to a story published in The Express Tribune titled "Pakistan cuts loan estimate as $6.5b remains stuck", the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) has said that there has been no cut in the loan estimates. At the time of annual budget 2018-19, the EAD had estimated $4.69 billion worth of foreign inflows from multilateral and bilateral donors. However, in view of an improved external environment, the EAD has increased its projection to $5.63 billion, which is 20% higher than the original estimates. In first half of the current fiscal year, $1.8 billion had already been disbursed by multilateral and bilateral sources. Despite several challenges, the EAD said it "is actively pursuing to achieve the remaining external inflows target of $3.8 billion".
