Former CM backs BNP’s six-point agenda

Raisani says federal government heading in wrong direction

QUETTA: Former chief minister of Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani, expressing doubts over the federal government’s commitment to tracing missing persons, said on Thursday that it was moving in the wrong direction.

“The federal government’s decisions are not in the interest of the Baloch and Pashtun nations,” he said while talking to a private TV channel.

“They haven’t shown earnestness in resolving the missing persons issue,” he added.



He also announced his backing for the Balochistan National Party-Mengal’s (BNP-M) six-point agenda that besides other issues calls for the recovery of missing persons and making serious efforts to end unemployment in the province.

The chief of Sarawan tribes called the Chinese investment another foreign attempt to exploit the provincial resources. “CPEC has turned into ‘seal pack’ in Balochistan,” he said and added, “The federal as well as the Chinese government have been delaying CPEC-related projects [in the province].”

He said, “The government at the Centre is hell-bent on moving in the wrong direction; therefore, no one can stop it.”



Responding to a question, the former chief minister said, “I suggest to those willing to learn Chinese language to learn Arabic instead because they will be able to recite [and understand] the holy Quran [easily].”

Sharing his views on the province’s financial situation, Raisani said, “The real problem is that the government has been spending more than its revenue generation. In coming months the Balochistan government will face difficulty in paying salaries to civil servants.”
