KARACHI: Three positions of additional inspector general (AIG) of Sindh Police are lying vacant due to a shortage of Grade-21 officials. This has increased the workload of the available officers and created a daily struggle for the junior policemen who have been assigned additional duties. Police sources said that while these duties could be managed temporarily by giving additional charges to other officials, it was not a long-term solution. Previously, there were seven vacant AIG positions against which the department managed to appoint four officers.
