KARACHI: An accountability court on Wednesday adjourned hearing of the corruption reference of Rs4.62 billion against Dr Asim Hussain and others after the cross examination of National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) witnesses.

Dr Asim and other accused appeared before the court. The lawyers for the accused completed the cross examination of NAB witnesses after which the court adjourned hearing till January 7.

In an informal conversation with the media, Dr Asim expressed his grief over the assassination of former MNA Ali Raza Abidi. He said he knew Abidi to be a decent and patriotic man with an enlightened vision, adding that the assassination has left a question mark on the security situation in the city. The people involved in the incident should be identified and the security in the city needs to be improved, he said.

In response to questions about former prime minister's sentence and the joint investigation team's report against former president Asif Zardari, Dr Asim said that the cases are under trial at court so nothing can be said.
