Hafizabad police apprehend five criminals

Accused Sultan had been evading the police for 18 years. He was allegedly involved in murdering nine people

Law enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested five wanted criminals from Hafizabad, Express News reported.

A police official from Pindi Bhattiyan police station said that on special instructions of Hafizabad DPO Sajid Kiyani, police and other law enforcement agencies conducted a search operation in different areas across the city, including Hinduana, New Karachi, Wal Mochian and Mustafabad.

He added that during the operation, law enforcement personnel rounded up 21 suspects who were then shifted to the police station for interrogation. He maintained that after verification, 16 of the suspects were released.

The official revealed that the other five criminals were wanted by different police stations for a number of cases. He pointed out that those arrested included Sultan Mehmood and Ameer Zaman.

He stated that accused Sultan Mehmood has been evading the police for the last 18 years. He maintained that cases regarding the murders of nine individuals, attempted murder and terrorist activities were registered against him back in 2000.

He mentioned that a large quantity of illegal weapons, narcotics, liquor and other materials were seized from the possession of the accused.

The suspects were shifted to a police station for further investigation.

Earlier, at least six wanted bandits were arrested by police from Kacha area, Rahim Yar Khan.

Bhong Police Station SHO Naveed Wahla and his team conducted a raid at a hide-out in Kacha area and nabbed six bandits while arms and ammunition were also seized from their possession.

The accused were identified as Sanaullah, Yaseen, Musa, Abu Bakar, Ghulam Hussain and Teesa. Police said the culprits were involved in committing robberies and criminal activities in the area and evaded the police several times.

The bandits were also wanted by police for a number of kidnapping for ransom cases. The accused used to commit robberies and would take shelter at hide-outs established near the bank of the river.

The criminals belonged to the notorious Sukhani gang who had been operating in Kacha area for a long time.
