Commissioners urged to hold medical camps

Mastung DC Lashari says it is the right of people in far-flung areas to benefit from such initiatives

MASTUNG: All the commissioners in the province have been urged to regularly hold medical camps in their districts, especially where little or no access to medical services is available.

Speaking to newsmen during a free medical camp set up at Killi Waris on Monday, Mastung Deputy Commissioner Qayyam Lashari said population welfare and health secretaries have called for organising such medical camps regularly at very point of districts where little or no access to medical and family planning services is available.

He said: “It is the right of the people living in remote areas to benefit from such initiatives”.

During the camp, as many as 1,530 patients were treated. It was jointly conducted by population welfare department, Peoples Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) and health department.

District Health Officer Manzoor Baloch and Civil Hospital medical superintendent were also present on the occasion. It was highlighted that such joint efforts by all stakeholders would continue.

“These medical camps also help in reducing the refusal cases for polio campaigns as they are a good tool for building confidence among the masses,” said PPHI District Support Manager Riaz Mengal.

Speaking on the occasion, District Population Officer Safiullah Shahwani said that the free medical camp was an effort to provide relief to the underprivileged in remote areas of the district.

He added that during the day-long activity as many as 15 women were also provided advice and medicines for family planning. Shahwani said that a large quantity of medicines for general ailments were distributed among the masses.

He said the next medical camp of population welfare department would be held on November 29 at village Dasht of district Mastung.
