QUETTA: The family of martyred Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Ilyas has pleaded Chief Justice of Pakistan for the release of compensation money and other benefits announced by the police department and government officials.

On November 16, 2017, armed men riding motorcycle killed Ilyas, his wife Razia Bibi, son Advocate Muhammad Adeel and six-year-old grandson Abdul Wahab in a targeted incident in Nawa Killi area of Quetta.

“We have lost our father, mother, brother and nephew for this country and we feel proud of the martyrdom of our family because they sacrificed their today for our bright tomorrow,” Muhammad Yousaf, the elder son of martyred SP Ilyas told The Express Tribune after laying wreath of flowers on the graves of his family members in Quetta’s Kasi graveyard.

After the passage of one year, the family still awaits compensation amount announced by the police department and the Government of Balochistan.

“In the condolence meeting of my father and other family members, many government officials and police officers came and announced compensation and other benefits for us, but one year has passed and we have not received any benefits,” Zeenat, daughter of Muhammad Ilyas, said.

She also said the promises are limited to consoling our family but on implementation, no progress has been shown, “Compensation was also announced for my brother Adeel by the lawyers’ community, but even that has not been delivered.”

The family demanded immediate job notification for the son of Muhammad Ilyas which the family claimed was announced by the police.
