With the changing times, plus-size models and actors have taken over the entertainment circuits, proving they are not any less talented. Likewise Rebel Wilson, originally hailing from Australia, has made a name for herself by starring in some of the hit Hollywood films of all time.

Film review: Pitch Perfect 2 - Out of tune

While making an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show recently, the starlet unveiled the trailer of her next film Isn't It Romantic, which also stars Liam Hemsworth and Adam DeVine. She told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, "I had such a ball filming Isn't It Romantic. I always add my own jokes and I'm also kind of proud to be the first ever plus-size girl to be the star of the romantic comedy."

As soon as her statements made their way to the world wide web, many disagreed with her claims of being the "first plus-size star" to be a part of a rom-com. Later that afternoon, Wilson took to Twitter and apologised for her comments.

The Pitch Perfect star wrote, "In a couple of well-intentioned moments, hoping to lift my fellow plus-sized women up, I neglected to show the proper respect to those who climbed this mountain before me like Mo’Nique, Queen Latifah, Melissa McCarthy, Ricki Lake and many others."

Wilson added, "With the help of some very compassionate and well-thought out responses from others on social media, I now realise what I said was not only wrong but also incredibly hurtful. To be part of a problem I was hoping I was helping makes it that much more embarrassing and hard to acknowledge."

The 38-year-old actor continued that she had blocked a few people on Twitter because she was upset at the criticism that was coming her way. But soon realised that it was something that she actually needs more of.

In a separate post, Wilson shared, "I'm all about supporting plus-size women and I work so hard to do so. I never want to disrespect anyone."
