Faysal Quraishi irked at Karachi's disappearing green spaces

Actor expresses concern about noticeable absence of trees across city

Pakistani actor Faysal Quraishi has spoken out about the lack of greenery in Karachi, sharing a message on social media that highlights growing concern over the city's changing landscape.

Posting an aerial view of Karachi on his Instagram story, Quraishi pointed to the noticeable absence of trees across the city and questioned how urban development has transformed Karachi over the years.

In his message, the actor suggested that the city is gradually turning into a "concrete jungle," with green spaces disappearing and being replaced by buildings and roads. He also urged people to plant more trees, saying environmental damage is becoming increasingly visible.

His post comes as Karachi continues to face extreme heat, rising pollution levels, and climate-related challenges issues experts have repeatedly linked to rapid urbanisation and shrinking green cover.

He is the recipient of more than 20 nationally recognised awards. He first gained recognition for playing the leading role of Boota in the television series Boota from Toba Tek Singh (1999) and has been a part of more than 200 projects. Quraishi hosted a morning show called Muskurati Morning with Faisal Qureshi from 2010 to 2014. From 2016 to 2019, he hosted the morning show Salam Zindagi. He was also the host of a game show called Jeet Ka Dum and is currently hosting another game show, Khush Raho Pakistan.

Quraishi began his career as a child artist and appeared in the plays Emergency Ward and Andhera Ujala. He landed his first lead role as Boota in Boota from Toba Tek Singh in 1999, which made him an overnight star. Faysal also played the leading role in Bashar Momin (2014), the first Pakistani drama to air on Indian television.
