
Punjab cabinet to donate one month salary after PM’s dam appeal
The accused, Mian Ahsan, was presented before the court of additional district and sessions Judge Tanveer Ahmad. During the proceedings, the counsel for the accused said that police arrested his client over false allegations.
He requested pre-arrest bail to prevent police from taking him into custody. The court granted him bail and also asked him to join police investigations.
An FIR had been registered against unidentified suspects at the Ghalib Market police station on charges of kidnapping and thrashing policemen.
According to the FIR, police officials found a boy and girl in a compromising position in a car outside a public park.
When police asked
them to go to the police station, they started arguing with them.
Later, the boy reportedly called his friends who came and beat up the policemen. They not only beat them, but also stole a wireless set and weapons. The cops were ultimately kidnapped and taken to an unidentified location.
Later, during police investigations, one of the accused was identified as Mian Ahsan, the son of Provincial Minister Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed.
Police said that they were looking into the matter and collecting evidence through CCTV footage and geo-fencing.

A police officer, requesting anonymity, told The Express Tribune that police had concocted the events of the incident. “A fight broke out between policemen and the accused when the cops found a couple in the car. However, no one kidnapped the policemen,” he said. He added that the suspects left the car behind and it was found to be registered in the name of provincial minister Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed’s family.
The accused were granted bail by the court. Police said that they were investigating the matter further.
