Major power outage hits Karachi

Restoration work underway, says KE

Large areas of the metropolis plunged into darkness early Tuesday morning after a major fault affected K-Electric's (KE) distribution system.

The power utility reported a fault in its extra high tension network and claimed that "few affected areas have already been restored" by morning.

The tweet by KE added that teams are working to normalise remaining areas "as soon as possible".

The power utility also claimed through social media that power supply to the airport and major hospitals was ensured as "restoration work continues to progress in affected areas".

Nine K-Electric officials granted bail before arrest



Defence Housing Authority, Clifton, Bath Island, Civil Lines, Federal B area, Garden, Gulshan and old city areas were some of the areas affected by the outage.
