Hyderabad girls outshine boys in HSC exams
Some 49,982 students from 10 districts of Hyderabad, Nawabshah divisions had appeared for exams

With the female students eclipsing their male counterparts in the top positions and overall pass percentage, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Hyderabad has declared 40,922 students pass in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Part II exams. Some 49,982 students from ten districts of Hyderabad and Nawabshah divisions had appeared in the exams in the pre-medical, pre-engineering and science general groups.
Annual results: 129,000 candidates pass 9th grade exam
The result was announced at a press conference by BISE's officials at the board office in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Among 30,131 students appearing in the pre-medical HSC part II exam, 24,363 passed, including 87.33% female and 74.10% male students. Some 5,309 students failed the exam while the results of 459 have been withheld. Among the qualifying students, 654 passed with A1 grade, 4,071 with A, 7,888 with B, 9,394 with C and 2,329 with D grades.
Maryam Akram, a student of College of Excellence for Girls Latifabad Unit 6, clinched the top position with 85.18%. Ume Farwa of Government Girls Degree College Sehwan, Jamshoro district, secured the second position with 84.91% marks and Hira Rani of FG Degree College Hyderabad Cantt the third position with 84.82% marks.
The top 10 positions in the pre-medical group were shared by 15 students, including 14 female students and one male student.
In the pre-engineering group, 15,810 students, out of 18,873 who had appeared, passed the examination while 2,772 failed. The board withheld results of 291 students. As many as 242 students passed with A1 grade, 3,550 with A, 6,263 with B, 4,703 with C and 971 with D grades with 92.4% female and 82.7% male students passing the exam.
Areesha Iqbal of Hayat Girls College Saddar, Hyderabad bagged the top position with 85% marks. The second position went to Kiran Anwar of County Girls College, Hyderabad and the third position to Roomana Latif of Superior College of Science, Hyderabad. They secured 84.09% and 84% respectively. Among the 11 students sharing the top ten positions, seven were female students and only four were male.
Girls sweep top positions in Abbottabad intermediate exams
Likewise, 749 students passed in the science general group out of 978 who had appeared for the examination. Two students secured A1 grade, 68 secured A, 241 secured B, 337 secured C and 99 secured D grades and the result of 10 students was withheld.
Fatima Shafique of College of Excellence for Girls Latifabad Unit 6, Hafsa Noma of Hayat Girls College Saddar Hyderabad and Muhammad Mubashir Farooq of Cadet College Petaro secured the top three positions respectively.
