Minister pledges visible change in health sector
Stresses that quality health care would be provided to every citizen
Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid has assured that there would be a visible change in public health facilities during the next three months. She stressed that quality health care would be provided to every citizen.
She expressed these views while addressing a seminar at the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) on Saturday. “We have to prepare young professionals to deal with the current challenges and in this regard, senior doctors should become role models,” she said.
Health minister concerned over lack of facilities at PIMS
“I request professors and associate professors to remain in emergencies for few hours so that young professionals could learn from their experience in a better way,” the minister said.
She said she knew about the work burden on doctors but “maltreatment of patients would not be acceptable in any way”. “Remember, a patient comes to a hospital in a disturbed condition and if somehow, he or she creates a problem, the doctors should be tolerant,” Dr Rashid remarked. “As a medical practitioner, I also advise you to understand the psychology of patients before starting any treatment.”

“Do not expect any reward from the patients because only the Almighty can reward your services,” she concluded.
SIMS Principal Professor Mehmood Riaz, in his welcome address, assured that medical community would become the “arms” of the minister to achieve certain health targets.
