Post-Bin Laden: 153 killed in seven blasts in K-P so far

PESHAWAR:

At least 153 people have been killed, while 200 others have been injured in the seven bomb blasts that occurred in different parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa following al Qaeda Chief Osama bin Laden’s killing in Abbottabad on May 2, The Express Tribune learnt on Friday.

The terrorist attacks took place in different parts of the province and targeted the government and public places.

The first attack hit a Police station in Umar Zai Charsadda on May 2, resulting in the death of five people, while injuring 15.

Four civilians were injured in the second assault – a remote controlled blast targeted at a convoy of the provincial minister for agriculture.

The third attacked took place on May 8 when a blast on the main gate of the District and Session court in Nowshera killed two people, including a woman constable, and injured 10 others.

In what was the worst attack of the month, at least 98 people, including 85 FC recruits and 70 others were injured when two suicide bombers blew themselves up in front of the Shabqadar Frontier Constabulary Fort in Charsadda on May 13.

In the fourth attack, terrorists targeted a US Consulate vehicle near the American Club in University Town on May 20. The blast resulted in the death of a pedestrian, while 10 people sustained injuries.

On Wednesday, a Crime Investigation Department (CID) police station in the cantonment area of Peshawar was hit when an explosive-laden pickup detonated at the Hayat Chowk on the University Road. According to officials, at least eight security personnel were killed and 39 others were injured.

The latest attack occurred a day later, on Thursday, when a suicide bomber detonated a car bomb near the District administration offices in Hangu. At least 39 police personnel and civilians were killed while 52 others were injured in the blast, DPO Rashid Khan told The Express Tribune.

The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the all seven blasts as ‘revenge’ for Bin Laden’s killing.

Ali Hasan | 13 years ago | Reply So. Who now thinks that Osama Bin Laden wasn't really killed, then? Who now thinks that the TTP are just a bunch of misunderstood people worthy of our sympathies?
Arslan | 13 years ago | Reply @Who cares: I said the same to a friend: I've never seen so much junoon in what they're doing to Pakitani policemen, peoples in bazaar, volleyball players (not even joking), ... than what they did to Americans in Afghanistan. And just point out the fact that it says a lot about the Talibans being 'Pashtun nationalists', by the way (we hear a lot of this pseudo intellectual analysis)
