RAHIM YAR KHAN: At least three of a family suffered burn injuries in an acid attack incident in Thal Hamza near Khanpur on Thursday.

A police official told Express News that Abdul Rasheed, a resident of Thal Hamza, and his family was asleep at night. That is when Aziz Mai, Ghulam Shabbir, Khursheed and Ghulam Abbas allegedly barged into the house and hurled acid at them to take revenge over an old enmity.

He added Abdul Rasheed, his wife Lal Parveen and minor daughter Anum suffered critical burn injuries as a result. After the incident, the culprits fled the scene.

Locals from the neighbourhood reached the spot and shifted the victims to Bahawal Victoria Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the Tiranda Muhammad Panah police have registered a case and have started an investigation. Raids were being conducted to arrest the accused.

Earlier, a woman was attacked with acid and two others were being injured as a result in Gujrat’s Dang District. The victim had turned a marriage proposal and police said that served as the catalyst for the attack. The victims, students of University of Gujrat, were standing at a bus stop when three men on a motorcycle hurled acid at them.
