ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson Imran Khan’s step-daughter was among the two new members who joined the party on Monday.

Mehru Hayat, daughter of Imran's wife Bushra Maneka, and her friend Farah Khan congratulated the prime minister designate for the win in elections and expressed contentment over the party’s leadership and manifesto. Crediting Imran for revoking political understanding in youth, Mehru said he had the ability to pull the country out of the crisis.

Imran to be formally nominated as PM today

Mehru's induction in PTI raises pertinent questions over nepotism in the party ranks since Imran has vehemently opposed nepotism and dynastic politics.

Ahead of the July 25 polls, dismayed PTI workers and activists had critcised party leadership for the way electoral tickets were awarded and protested outside Imran's Bani Gala residence until he promised to rework the list himself.

Earlier in the day, PTI officially nominated Imran as its candidate for the premier slot. Addressing the party's parliamentary body, he said the masses no longer believed in conventional politics.

“We will be held accountable by our voters if we stick to conventional governance structure,” he said. “Our struggle will create the future of Pakistan. The first phase of my 22-year-old struggle is completed, we are set for second stage.”
