NAB makes headway in embezzlement case

In a successful operation, an intelligence team of the National Accountability Bureau, Balochistan on Monday arrested Brothers International owner Javed Akram from Rawalpindi for allegedly embezzling Rs155 million.

According to the NAB spokesperson, a few years ago Nadar Tehsin, Aamir Tehsin, Babar Tehsin, Javed Akram and Khalid Akram established a firm Brothers International. The owners managed to persuade innocent people into investing in the stock exchange business and looted billions of rupees from them.

When the number of people investing in this fake business increased, they shut down their firm and fled. After the fraudulent firm was exposed, the 250 suffering individuals, who lost their money, knocked on the doors of NAB, Balochistan for justice. The NAB team, headed by Deputy Director Fayaz Afzal, collected evidence against the suspects and filed a reference in court. In the light of investigation by the NAB team, the accountability court issued non-bailable arrest warrants of the suspects. However, due to the absence of the suspects during court hearings, they were declared absconders.

Later, a NAB team arrested one of the escaped owners, Khalid Akram, from Multan a few months ago. The NAB intelligence team continued to search for other accused persons and arrested the central person of this fraud case Javed Akram during an operation in Rawalpindi. The NAB, Rawalpindi issued protective remand to the accused, while he will be presented in NAB, Quetta on Tuesday (today).

On special directives of NAB, Balochistan Director General Mirza Muhammad Irfan Baig, the intelligence team, under the supervision of Shoaib Sheikh, held successful operations in far-flung areas of Sindh, Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and arrested many escaped and wanted suspects involved in different cases of corruption.
