Former CM Raisani, ex-minister Khosa on NAB’s radar

Provincial bureau seeks Chairman Javed Iqbal’s approval to take action

QUETTA: The Balochistan National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has sought approval of bureau’s chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal to file corruption references against the former provincial chief minister, ex-minister and bureaucrats.

Former chief minister Muhammad Aslam Raisani, ex-food minister Izhar Khosa, Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) secretary, Quetta Treasury DG and officers of the Balochistan Assembly, local government as well as the Directorate of Development Office, Quetta are on NAB’s radar.



These decisions were taken during a Regional Board Meeting (RBM) presided over by NAB Director General Mirza Mohammad Irfan Baig.
It was also agreed during the meeting that investigation into several other embezzlement cases against officials of Water and Sanitation Authority (Wasa), Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the food department would be initiated.

The RBM decided to seek approval of the NAB chairman to file references against former CM Raisani in the illegal appointment case and against former food minister Khosa in the wheat embezzlement case.



The provincial bureau also seeks a go-ahead nod to conduct investigation against former S&GAD secretary Ali Ahmed Mengal, Quetta Treasury DG Ali Gul Kurd, and officers of Quetta Electric Supply Corporation and Balochistan Assembly over charges of corruption.

It was also decided to initiate investigation against Wasa Store Incharge Amir Latif Rana over allegations of accumulating assets beyond known sources of income. Rana is said to have assets worth over Rs600 million, while the richest politician of Balochistan, PTI’s Yar Muhammad Rind has assets worth over Rs500 million.

The NAB meeting also decided to initiate investigation in another case of accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income against Assistant Director Food Shair Zaman Tareen and others.



On allegations of misuse of authority and misappropriation/embezzlement of funds in the Municipal Committee of Dera Murad Jamali, the provincial anti-corruption watchdog will initiate investigation against committee Chairman Ghulam Nabi and others.

Approval of investigations against the officers of local government, and energy and food departments of Zhob, Qilla Abdullah and the PDMA has also been sought.
