KARACHI: A boy, Wamiq, son of Muhammad Arif, was injured after the young son of a police inspector allegedly opened fire at him in District Central.

Police said the incident took place when the Wamiq was sitting with his friends at a teashop and the police inspector's son came and pointed a gun at the victim's head. According to the police, the victim managed to make a run for it, but the suspect fired at him from behind. As a result, Wamiq was shot once on the neck.

The injured was shifted to Ziauddin Hospital in North Nazimabad and later moved to a private hospital as, according to the police, his condition was critical. Police officials said that the suspect was identified as Ovais and was the son of Inspector Din Muhammad Burfat, who is currently posted in Jamshoro.

Police officials said that the two boys were friends and Ovais mistakenly opened fire at Wamiq while they were 'playing'.

However, the case is being investigated from different angles. Police officials said the boys used to live in Bangoria Goth in Azizabad.

The suspect managed to escape the scene after firing at Wamiq, however, the police arrested him later and registered a case against him.
